He made a sociopath feel. And that.that is a super power. Empathy is worth all the pain it comes with.I applaud you for your willingness to go on that journey. I’m no churchgoer but I definitely believe in the power of love. And love heals and moves people spiritually. It starts with forgiveness. The father’s words, as much as I remember: We have been taught to forgive, not just some, but everyone. So I say to you sir, you are forgiven. I will always remember the immense power of that man’s faith and capacity for grace. As we called him, worked at Christmas time as Santa at the Mall. He really enjoyed that work, all the Santa’s did. While I’m not a psychologist.I’d guess that when your is irretrievably altered by a horrific case of gross or criminal negligence a profound cognitive dissonance might inspire a craving for understanding from a connection to the responsible party, just as Stockholm Syndrome causes a captive ,in this case to an event, to try to overcome the mental trauma by associating positively with their captor. I don’t judge your instinct ,it’s not right or wrong. Just is, but I’d caution against risking further injury and trauma by opening yourself to someone who doesn’t ,and never had, your interest in mind.
