In a Pro Bowl overflowing with touchdown passes and interceptions, the AFC on Sunday at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium was able to earn its fifth consecutive victory over the NFC. Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard set the tone with a pick-six on the game’s sixth play of the game as the AFC jumped out to a lead it would never relinquish as the teams combined for seven passing touchdowns and seven interceptions. Here are five takeaways from the game.

Defense dominates from the jump. What the Pro Bowl lacks in physicality and urgency, it makes up for in opportunism. In an opening salvo void of hard hits, the flashiest plays still came from defenses, not from offenses. Kyler Murray, Kirk Cousins, Russell Wilson and Patrick Mahomes all threw interceptions in the first quarter. Kyler’s pick, right into the hands of Darius Leonard, and Mahomes’s wayward toss, a gift to Antonio Winfield Jr., were both returned for six; neither man was touched, save for half-hearted slaps. Cousins was stripped off the right side by T.J. Watt on the first play of the second quarter, resulting in a Myles Garrett scoop-and-score. Mac Jones got in on the pick action with his first regulation throw of the day. Wilson then threw another INT to a wide-open Derwin James. To top it off, Mahomes was stripped by Micah Parsons on the final play of the first half. Parsons had said leading up to his first Pro Bowl that he would channel the late Sean Taylor in his aggression in the NFL all-star game. The Cowboys rookie didn’t quite level a punter, but he and his fellow defenders, who picked off each Pro Bowl QB at least once, were certainly more inspired than the offensive offensive play on Sunday. The Raiders edge rusher left his feet at the line of scrimmage to bat down three Murray passes in the first two quarters, including one on the first play, setting the tone for the day. Deep in the second quarter, Crosby even logged a sack of Cousins in the red zone, thwarting an NFC scoring effort. Crosby finished his all-star afternoon with five tackles, three for a loss, two sacks, three passes defensed and the game’s Defensive Most Valuable Player accolade. Herbert a highlight. Though Sunday’s exhibition is hardly the stage to accurately grade any all-star, Justin Herbert certainly looked sterling in his Pro Bowl debut. The only quarterback to emerge unscathed without an interception in the first half, Herbert was 7 of 10 for 98 yards and hit Ravens tight end Mark Andrews for a pair of scores before his final toss in the second half was picked off. It’s been five weeks since Herbert and the Chargers’ season came to a bitter end in Las Vegas and he returned to the scene of the crime Sunday and looked like his sensational self, earning Pro Bowl Offensive MVP in the process. Maybe he wasn’t as dazzling as he was back in defeat back in Week 18, but he was certainly a highlight in the AFC’s win. (Grant Gordon)

Enter the fourth-and-15 alternative to the kickoff, a rule that allows a scoring team to opt to convert a fourth-and-15 play from its own 25 instead of kicking the ball back to its opponent following the extra point. Suggested and tabled at recent league meetings, it was adopted for experimentation at this year’s Pro Bowl. The result? The AFC and NFC went a combined 0 for 8 on these attempts, resulting in short fields for their opponents and increased scoring. (Jeremy Bergman)

Rookies don’t disappoint. A 15-time Pro Bowler just retired, though he wasn’t at Sunday’s festivities. And though it would be folly to suggest any player could ever follow the accomplishments of Tom Brady, it’s impossible not to wonder and prognosticate what lies ahead for the rookies who made their Pro Bowl debuts Sunday. Brady made the first of his aforementioned 15 all-star games in 2001 – his second season. Following sensational first seasons, the likes of Parsons, Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts, Jones and Steelers running back Najee Harris had their highlights. Parsons, as he’s done since the preseason, commanded notice with eight tackles and a sack. Pitts caught a fourth-quarter TD as the NFC rallied to make things interesting and Jones, who was 12 of 16 for 112 yards and a TD, hooked up with Harris on a fourth-and-2 play for seven yards to salt away the AFC’s win. Just a play prior, Jones rushed for four yards but kept going all the way into the end zone before busting out his best Griddy. Sunday was all about the best of the best (or most of them) having fun, and it’s certainly fun to imagine if any of these first-year phenoms might well have played in the first of their 15 or so Pro Bowls. If nothing less, the future is certainly bright for Chargers offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, another rookie in the game, and the aforementioned quartet. (Grant Gordon)

The lack of intervention from Travis or his team during the events found the rapper heavy public criticism and multiple lawsuits.

Among the critics? Billie, who seemed to reference the incident on stage. After helping the fan, she stated, “I wait for people to be okay before I keep going” to mass applause. Many had criticized Travis for continuing his set even as audience members called out for help, pointing out that Travis once stopped a show to accuse a fan of stealing his shoes. However, Travis issued an apology where he said he was “devastated” and insisted he didn’t know what happened until after it was too late. The investigation remains on-going.

The crowd surge killed eight people, and two more died in the hospital over the following days. In mid-December, A coroner confirmed that all ten victims of the Astroworld Music Festival tragedy had died from “compression asphyxia.” Over 100 lawsuits have been filed against Travis, Livenation, and those involved in the festival. Following the disaster, Travis was dropped from the 2022 Coachella lineup, and he kept a relatively low profile, avoiding the public and keeping out of the spotlight.

Travis gave his first in-depth interview with Charlamagne Tha God on Dec. 9, saying he was unaware that anything was wrong while he performed and only learned about the tragedy afterward.

Conway touts about having shooters coming off the bench like Kyle Korver; Benny one-ups him with enough shooters to embarrass the Detroit Pistons and Westside Gunn relishing how he’d be home soon after a gun charge but may not make it home at all without a weapon.

Conway’s road to God Don’t Make Mistakes has come with plenty of flows for fans and plenty of questions regarding his stature on Shady Records since he signed to the label back in 2017. He’s previously taken back statements made in a 2019 VladTV interview on his “Jail” freestyle regarding Eminem and proclaimed he was “thankful” for Em.

“What I’d like for people to take away from ‘Hate Our Love’ is don’t let anybody come in between anything or anyone that you love,” Queen Naija said in a statement. “I’m so excited to finally collaborate with Big Sean on a record…it’s been a dream of mine for a while now. With both of us being from Detroit, it felt like the perfect match up and I hope everyone loves the song!”

On Thursday (February 3), Big Sean joined Queen Naija on Instagram Live to discuss the new track, but in doing so also dropped a few hints about a new TWENTY88 album with Jhené Aiko. When Naija asked what else was on his plate, Sean Don spoke earnestly about the project.

“I’m here working on [a] new album and new TWENTY88, me and Jhené,” the Detroit rapper said with a grin. “Shit, we’ve been working on it for a little bit… It’s coming along good, though.”

Big Sean and Jhené Aiko’s TWENTY88 debut hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200 in 2016, selling 40,000 copies in its first week.

The rapper first spoke about a potential follow-up record during an appearance on Ebro In The Morning in 2020.

During their exclusive stream, the pair of seasoned artists/producers virtually touched base with hundreds of their die-hard fans and gave detailed updates about their upcoming album Before Shit Got Weird. To start, Sir Mikey explained the structure of the release, which has already spawned three singles, including the Larry June-assisted “All Or Nothing.”

“It is a triple album,” Sir Michael Rocks said in part. “So from him [Chuck Inglish] a solo from myself and the group [The Cool Kids] album as well. So that is three albums all coming out, man.”

Chuck Inglish proceeded to expand, revealing the motivation behind the triple album release was to enhance the experience for fans rather than just dropping off a deluxe project.

“I wanted to give an album a little bit more of an experience than just, you know, a Thursday night, 16 songs, you know, nothing else comes with it.” he explained. “Somebody gonna drop a deluxe with two extra songs, that doesn’t catch my attention.”

He continued, referencing Outkast’s beloved Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below albums as reference points for the structure of the release. “So I like to make things that I would be into,” Chuck Inglish said. “So it’s like, like Stankonia and then Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. I’m not saying that’s how we came. I’m just talking about the packaging, you know?”

The Detroit native also spoke about the lucid source of inspiration he tapped into throughout the process of producing the album — which he says took about two weeks.

“Everything is produced by me,” Inglish added. “Someone asked, ‘What’s the album sound like?’ It sounds how we started it, on acid, right? That’s how this album started. The motivation behind it is I think we found our globe by thinking the world was gone end in March of 2020. I didn’t think we would ever tour in, so I didn’t have no direction for when I was making stuff. I just wanted to make stuff again and it’d be fun. And I had some gnarly ass acid. And, we took a lot of it in the desert and all of these beats was made two weeks.”

Since Kid Cudi co-founded Encore in 2020 with Ian Edelman, who he worked with on HBO’s How To Make It In America, the virtual reality app has pressed forward with producing concerts in the metaverse and hosted performances by artists such as Bay Area rap legend Too $hort and Columbia Records signee SSGKobe.

Just over a week ago, Chuck Inglish told HipHopDX his intentions for The Cool Kids new album lies in his appreciation for multiple eras of Hip Hop.

“I hope this one spreads like wildfire,” he said in part. “If you ever liked rap music for something, this has got all the elements that brought me to it. The reverse drums is always a classic Hip Hop staple. I wanted to give the same emotion and reaction that I had to certain Hip Hop songs that completely made me a different human being after I listened to them. I called it ‘It’s Yours Pt. 2’ influenced by Wu-Tang’s version off the Wu-Tang Forever album — not a sonic influence but an energetic influence.”

In addition to KEY! and Larry June, The Cool Kids’ Before Shit Got Weird album also boasts features from Guapdad 4000, 6LACK, Chance The Rapper, Pac Div, Don Cannon, Nic Jr, Gabby!, Pell and Canadian producer A-Trak.
